Virat Kohli Creates history Despite India’s Defeat  by An Innings And 132 runs in Centurion Test

Virat Kohli became the first batsman to score 2000 international runs 7 times in a calendar year, surpassing former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara, who achieved this feat 6 times.

In the Centurion Test, India suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of South Africa by an innings and 32 runs. Despite this defeat, Team India’s star batsman Virat Kohli managed to create history. King Kohli scored 76 runs in the second innings against the hosts, on the basis of this innings he once again managed to cross the mark of 2000 international runs in the year 2023.

Virat Kohli became the Man of the Tournament in ICC ODI Worl Cup 2023. He scored 765 runs in 11 matches.

Virat Kohli now holds the world record for scoring more than 2000 international runs, the most number of times in a calendar year, achieving this feat 7 times. In this regard, he has surpassed the achievement of former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara, who had accomplished this feat 6 times in his career. 

Kohli first achieved the feat of scoring 2000 international runs in a calendar year in 2012. He became the sixth Indian batsman to do so. He repeated the same in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and now in 2023. Virat Kohli currently holds the record for scoring the highest number of 2818 international runs in a calendar year for India.
