Dinesh Phadnis: A Fond Farewell to the Iconic ‘Freddy’ of CID

On December 5, the entertainment industry mourned the loss of actor Dinesh Phadnis, fondly known as ‘Freddy’ from the iconic TV series CID. The news of his passing was confirmed by his co-actor on the show, Dayanand Shetty. Dinesh, aged 57, had been battling extensive liver damage and was on ventilator support before his demise. He gained widespread recognition for portraying ‘Fredericks’ in CID, a series that has been a staple on Indian television since its debut in 1998. Beyond CID, Dinesh made a brief appearance on the immensely popular ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.’

As news of Dinesh Phadnis’ passing spread, his CID co-stars expressed their grief on social media. Ajay Nagrath, who played a key role in CID, shared his disbelief on Instagram, posting, “Can’t believe you left us for heavenly abode. Rest in peace Freddy Sir; you’re forever in our hearts.”
